American actor, producer, and model DJ Qualls, 41, came out as gay following his recent appearance on Comedy Central’s The Jim Jeffries Show. Qualls confirmed the news through his verified Twitter account by saying, “It is 11:20pm. I just came out on stage at a @jimjefferiesshow in San Diego. Yep, I’m gay. Been gay this whole time.” He added, “Tired of worrying about what people would think of me. Tired of worrying about what it would do to my career.”

Qualls is best known for his films Road Trip (2000), The New Guy (2002), and Cherry Falls (2000). He also landed a role in various hit TV series such as Supernatural, CSI, Lost, and The Big Bang Theory to name a few. Further, he made an appearance in several music videos like Simple Plan’s “I’m Just a Kid,” Britney Spears feat. Pharrell’s “Boys (co-ed remix),” and Eel’s “Mr. E’s Beautiful Blues.” Prior to acting, he was a model for Prada and Calvin Klein and a volunteer counselor at Camp Horizon.
A cancer survivor, Qualls is an advocate for cancer research. He was diagnosed with Stage 3 (near Stage 4) Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 14 (according to Mayo clinic, Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s germ-fighting network.).
Good for him for being ahead of those who would happily make that announcement for him. Supposed “fans” who delight in prying into every hiccup or sneeze those in the media/entertainment spotlight make so they can claim the “big scandalous scoop.” Given what he does for a living, no one of importance is going to find his sexuality an issue … unless, of course, he we’re to push it and make it one.
What is the point of this disclosure? He is a part of society where such revelations are to be expected? Such disclosures only reinforce the already perception that such genres are populated with Gays. They are marginal because the vast majority of Americans do not know of their existence or of his existence. How about Bob speaks for Bob’s self? I may not totally agree with N.Z.H., but his style of expression is one of a kind.and very relevant. His perspective, opinions, and beliefs hit home many gays who don’t fall lockstep into the stereotypical mantra pushed by militant gays. He’s also respectful of other’s stances, although in doing so he just may be much less tender than some of them need.
Why the sour comment? Don’t like his comments? Don’t read them, and your comments can be considered “not relevant, nor appreciated”.

He looks decent but, now, that I read of his Lymphoma, I can see its effects on his face; it is shaped a bit different and I only know this because I took care of soldiers who had Lymphoma because of their exposure to “Agent Orange.”
