Rumor has it that the third season of Bridgerton has gay sex scenes. If you don’t know what that is, Bridgerton is Netflix’s historical fiction-romance created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton, which is based on the eight-book series by Julia Quinn, follows the life of the Bridgerton family in Regency-era London’s ton. The ton, which is reportedly derived from the French phrase ‘le bon ton,’ refers to the Regency High Society. The phrase itself means “etiquette, good manners, or good form–characteristics held as ideal by the British beau monde.”

I watched the first two seasons a few months ago, and I’ve already started watching the third season titled Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story; and I’m loving it. So far, I think the series is funny and interesting. And although the plot centers around the love story between the young Queen Charlotte (played by actress India Amarteifio) and the young King George III of England (played by actor Corey Mylchreest), I think that the queer story between their butlers Brimsley (played by actor Sam Clemmett) and Reynolds (played by actor Freddie Dennis) are equally intriguing.

Anyway, I’m already halfway through the series. I won’t spoil you any further, but let me share their interview with Out Magazine where the two aforementioned actors talked about how they prepared for their roles and how the intimate scenes between their characters were filmed “with the help of an on-set coordinator.”

“They created such a safe space,” Dennis said. He added, “Obviously with all intimate scenes, it requires vulnerability. The conversations we had surrounding the scenes and the fact that they were there on set talking us through and choreographing us just made it actually sort of an amazing, amazing experience.”

On the other hand, Clemmett said, “It just allowed us to be able to throw ourselves into the scene themselves and focus on what we needed to achieve. There’s no way that could have happened without feeling comfortable and safe and respected.”
